TANK PROJECT City of Sydney commission for ‘Live Lanes – By George!’ 2008 For a two-week period, three Saracen armoured personnel carriers were instructed to form defensive positions in different laneways of Sydney’s central business district, between Martin Place and the Stock Exchange on Bridge Street. Moving mostly in the early hours of the morning, the military vehicles re-positioned themselves so as to surprise the workers and visitors to the city, who found them as they moved about their day. The moment of discovery of the TANKS for those people who came across them was the intent of the project. |
