bio

Born 1964, lives and works Sydney

Adam Norton often takes science and technology as a starting point and then makes funny pictures and objects which reflect his increasing disbelief, amazement and sometimes dismay at the world around him. This displacement activity has resulted in shows that include ‘Our Lucky Country’ at Hazelhurst Regional Gallery in 2006 and 2008, ‘The Visitors-the Australian response to UFO’s’ at Penrith Regional Gallery in 2008, and ‘Big Science’, a solo show at Gallery 9 in Sydney which included a generic escape capsule made out of a cupboard.

He has shown extensively in Australia, as well as the UK, the Netherlands and the USA. At the end of 2008 he was commissioned by the City of Sydney to launch a fleet of tanks on an un-suspecting population.
